Welcome to the Neighborhood: New Small Businesses in Westmoreland
It’s an exciting time to be a resident of Westmoreland County! As our community continues to grow, we’re seeing new faces and fresh ideas popping up from Murrysville to Jeannette. These entrepreneurs aren't just opening shop; they're investing in the fabric of our neighborhoods. Here are a few new spots that have recently opened or are just about to throw open their doors. Pizzaiolo PrimoLocation: 4869 William Penn Highway, Murrysville Opening Date: Early March 2026 If you’ve been missing the lively atmosphere at the old Atria’s building, you’re in for a treat. Pizzaiolo Primo has officially moved in, bringing an upscale, authentic Italian experience to Murrysville. Led by entrepreneur Ron Sofranko, this is the third location for the artisan pizza group. The space has been transformed into a warm, inviting destination featuring homemade brick-oven pizzas, fresh pastas like chicken parmigiana, and delicate Mediterranean dishes like branzino. Ron Sofranko, who took over the brand in 2021, is passionate about creating spaces where the community can gather over high-quality food. "Westmoreland County has a deep appreciation for authentic Italian heritage," Ron shared. "We chose Murrysville because we saw a need for a high-end, sit-down Italian experience that still feels like home. We’re not just serving dinner; we’re bringing back a neighborhood landmark." How to Support Them: Stop by for a meal at 4869 William Penn Highway. You can check out their menu and hours on their website or follow their journey on social media to see their latest seasonal specials. Popsy’s Golf CenterLocation: Sand Hill Road, Unity Opening Date: Late February/Early March 2026 For those of us who hate putting the clubs away when the Pennsylvania weather gets unpredictable, Popsy’s Golf Center is a dream come true. Owners Greg Kocinski and Jack Oberdorf (brothers-in-law and local residents) decided to open the center after their favorite local indoor spot closed down. Named after Jack’s grandfather, Jim Alcorn—the man who taught both of them the game—Popsy’s features two state-of-the-art golf simulators and an indoor putting green. "Golf has always been how we bond as a family, and when our local spot closed, we realized our community was missing that year-round outlet," says Greg Kocinski. "We wanted to create a place for the serious golfer to sharpen their skills and for families to just have a fun afternoon out. It’s a legacy project for us, keeping 'Popsy’s' love for the game alive right here in Unity." How to Support Them: Book a simulator time or practice your putt at their Sand Hill Road location. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for upcoming leagues and "Family Fun Days." Humidor Cigars & LoungeLocation: Jeannette (Main Street area) Opening Date: Recently Expanded/Open March 2026 Jeannette has a brand-new spot to unwind with the opening of Humidor Cigars & Lounge. Owner Allen, a Jeannette resident and state police trooper, has created a sophisticated yet welcoming "third space" for the community. The lounge offers over 120 brands of cigars and premium retail items. What makes it truly special is its community-first approach: Allen has partnered with local Jeannette restaurants so that visitors can have food delivered right to their lounge seats while they relax. "I’ve always seen cigar lounges as a place where everyone is welcomed—it’s almost like free therapy," Allen explained. "I wanted to bring that sense of belonging to my own backyard in Jeannette. By partnering with other local eateries for delivery, we’re supporting the whole downtown ecosystem while giving our guests a unique experience they can't find anywhere else in the county." How to Support Them: Visit them on Main Street to browse their humidor or stay for a smoke. Follow them on social media for updates on their upcoming "Cigar Rolling" workshops and community watch parties.
