Unlock Your Future: PFEW Brings the Boardroom to Westmoreland Students |
Don't let our talented Westmoreland youth miss out on the "PFEW Magic." |
As summer approaches, many Westmoreland County families are looking for more than just a typical camp experience. For our local high school sophomores and juniors, Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW) offers a transformative opportunity to step out of the classroom and into the fast-paced world of modern business. Held annually in Williamsport, PFEW isn’t a lecture series—it’s a hands-on simulation where students become executives. Participants are grouped into "companies" and tasked with running a business for a simulated three-year period. From managing marketing budgets to navigating financial crises, students learn that success isn't just about the bottom line; it's about teamwork, ethics, and leadership. For parents and teachers, PFEW is a powerful supplement to local curricula. Students return with sharpened communication skills and a clearer vision for their college and career paths. Best of all, through the support of the Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce and local business sponsors, nearly every student’s $1,500 program cost is covered by a scholarship, leaving only a small registration fee for the family. How to Get Involved Who: Current Sophomores & Juniors Where: Lycoming College or PA College of Technology When: Four sessions available throughout July Apply: Visit www.pfew.org or speak with your guidance counselor today! Don't let our talented Westmoreland youth miss out on the "PFEW Magic."
