Twenty-eight dogs were rescued this week after being cruelly abandoned in small cages inside trailers at a junkyard in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania State Police say the dogs were discovered Monday at ABC Auto Wreckers on Mount Thor Road in Greensburg. Property owners reported a break-in early that morning and immediately alerted authorities upon finding the animals left behind. The dogs, primarily Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds, had clear ties to a previous illegal, unlicensed kennel operation. They were found crammed into tiny cages with no access to food or water. Many were severely malnourished, underweight, and infested with parasites. Local rescue organizations — including All But Furgotten, No Dog Left Behind, and the ANNA Shelter — quickly mobilized to the scene. Property owners cooperated fully with investigators, contacting state police as soon as the dogs were found. |
