Latest updates on traffic accidents and stop sign installation in the area |
Residents of Murrysville have long voiced concerns over the hazardous intersection at School Road and North Hills Road.
Local homeowner Rich Sima expressed his frustration, noting, "It's very dangerous! We've witnessed 15 plus accidents here. Actually, when we moved in, there was almost an accident per week."
In response to these ongoing issues, the Murrysville council has unanimously approved an ordinance to install additional stop signs, transforming the junction into a four-way stop.
While this measure aims to enhance safety, some residents remain skeptical about its effectiveness.
Neighbor Ken Huggins pointed out, "If there's ice, cars will come down the hill and won't be able to stop if there's a stop sign."
To address these concerns, the council plans to equip the new stop signs with flashing red lights and install 'Stop Ahead' warnings with yellow flashing lights to alert drivers in advance.
Community members are encouraged to attend the upcoming council meeting on March 4th at 7 p.m. at the municipal building to discuss these developments further.
As the public works department prepares to implement these changes, the timeline will depend on the arrival of necessary materials.
Residents hope these efforts will significantly reduce the frequency of traffic accidents at this intersection. |
