Community grants supporting Westmoreland County PA initiatives

Highlighting public safety grants and infrastructure funding for local improvements

Westmoreland County has recently secured substantial funding to enhance public safety and infrastructure across its communities.

State Representative Eric Davanzo announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority approved nearly $700,000 for community improvements within his district.

These funds are part of the Local Share Account (LSA) program, which allocates gaming revenues to support local projects.

Among the notable allocations:

East Huntingdon Township received $165,000 to retrofit an existing building for vehicle storage.

Hunker was awarded $56,855 for stormwater improvements on Locust Street.

Monessen secured $27,000 to purchase a utility vehicle for public safety purposes.

Mount Pleasant Township obtained $100,000 for a new municipal truck.

North Belle Vernon received $90,000 to purchase a new electric police vehicle.

Rostraver Township was granted $61,000 to purchase a mobile column lift for improved vehicle maintenance.

South Huntingdon Township secured $50,000 to install a generator at its municipal facility.

West Newton received $45,000 to purchase a brush chipper for the public works department.

Scottdale was awarded $45,000 to purchase six new mobile radios for fire trucks and two base radios for station operations, along with a $60,000 grant for a new public works truck.

These grants aim to address critical needs in public safety and infrastructure, reflecting the county's commitment to enhancing community services.

Additionally, the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County has announced upcoming funding opportunities through its Greensburg Foundation Fund and Revitalizing Westmoreland/Healthy Communities initiatives.

While applications are not currently being accepted, new opportunities will be launched in the spring of 2026.

Eligible nonprofit organizations located within Westmoreland County or those demonstrating service to county residents are encouraged to apply.

These initiatives underscore the ongoing efforts to support and revitalize communities throughout Westmoreland County.
