Beth Dudley, a 32-year-old mother from Westmoreland County, is celebrating Mother’s Day like never before after winning $1 million from a Pennsylvania Lottery scratch-off ticket.
Dudley purchased her lucky ticket at the Crabtree Gas & Go, a Sunoco station in Salem Township, just after facing a challenging morning that included dealing with a flat tire after dropping off her toddler at daycare.
The unexpected win left her stunned and in disbelief, needing to check the ticket multiple times before the reality set in.
Lottery officials stopped by the retailer Friday to honor both Dudley and the store, which earned a $5,000 bonus for selling the million-dollar “Win Win Win” ticket.

Here is the 7-day weather forecast for Greensburg, PA: Tuesday, May 12: High 64°F, Low 33°F, Partly Sunny |
**Hey neighbors! Before I dive into the latest scoop on new small businesses (or recent openings) popping up around Westmoreland County, do you have any specific spots or businesses you've heard about?** Maybe something in Greensburg, Latrobe, Murrysville, Ligonier, or another area to prioritize? Let me know so I can dig deeper or highlight what matters most to our community. In the meantime, I've researched recent developments. While truly brand-new independent openings in just the past 30 days are always a bit of a moving target (local news and chambers track them closely), here are a couple of exciting additions from the very recent period that are bringing fresh energy, along with notes on others worth checking out. These reflect the ongoing growth we're seeing—think community-focused spots that fill real local needs. ### Mangia featuring DeLallo at Live! Casino Pittsburgh (Hempfield Township / Westmoreland Mall area) It offers pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, desserts, and grab-and-go options, plus a retail market stocked with DeLallo favorites like sauces, pastas, cheeses, and more. You can dine in (including patio seating), take out, or even grab items to bring onto the casino floor via an express window. Hours are generous: 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and until 2 a.m. on weekends. It's operated by the casino with that DeLallo supply chain magic. The grand opening featured a fun "noodle-cutting" ceremony (instead of a ribbon—perfect touch!) with local officials and even *Sopranos* actor Steve Schirripa on hand. It feels like a natural extension of DeLallo's long-standing presence in our area, celebrating Italian traditions, community, and quality ingredients. Residents are already raving about the casual yet flavorful experience that bridges quick bites with sit-down comfort. **How to support them:** Swing by the casino at Westmoreland Mall—plenty of parking. Follow Live! Casino Pittsburgh for updates or check livech.com for the menu. It's a great spot for a post-shopping or date-night treat that keeps dollars circulating locally while giving us that homey Italian fix. ### Tough Love Tattoo (Downtown Greensburg) Balon has emphasized creating an upscale yet friendly environment focused on art and community connection. It's perfectly positioned to tie into Greensburg's growing downtown energy. Keep an eye on their socials (Facebook/Instagram @toughlovetattoo) for exact hours, artist availability, flash deals, and events. Other recent-ish highlights still worth celebrating and supporting (from late 2025 but very much part of our current local boom) include **Humidor Cigars & Lounge** in Jeannette (owner Aaron Allen, a hometown advocate), **Popsy’s Golf Center** in Unity (indoor simulators and putting, family legacy-driven), and spots like **Lounge Barbershop** and **Good Life Wine & Spirits**. These reflect neighbors investing in our towns because they believe in the people and potential here. Westmoreland is humming with growth—new businesses like these strengthen our connections and give us more reasons to shop, eat, and gather locally. If you've got leads on others (or want me to follow up on a specific one), hit reply. In the meantime, get out there, say hi to the owners, and spread the word. Say you saw them in the Newsletter. That's how we keep our communities thriving! What's your favorite new spot so far? 😊 |

Sharks are older than trees—sharks have existed for over 400 million years, while trees only appeared on Earth around 350 million years ago. This means sharks survived multiple mass extinctions and predate one of the most common features of our terrestrial world. |

If you apply to adopt, please let the Humane Society know that you saw the listing in The Westmoreland Buzz Newsletter! Thelma's Story:
Hi there! My name's Thelma, what's yours? I'm a beautiful brindle girl who was brought to the shelter as a stray. My family never came to find me, so now I'm waiting for a new family to love! In my new home I'm hoping to be the only pet. No other dogs or cats please. That way I can have all the love and attention for myself! Some of my favorite things are going for walks, playing with toys, and getting belly rubs. I'll lay on my back just hoping someone will come by and scratch my belly for me! I'm up to date on vaccinations, spayed, and I also have a microchip. All I need now is YOU! Breed: Pit Bull Terrier & Dutch Shepherd Mix Heal Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy: You will also need to fill out an adoption application. Our shelter staff and adoption counselors will review your information to see if you are a good match for the pet you have selected. Please allow yourself about an hour to have the proper time to spend with an adoption counselor to discuss the responsibility of owning your specific pet and making a lifetime commitment. Please remember our number one goal and priority is finding FOREVER homes for the dogs and cats in our care and matching the right pet with the right home environment. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption. Some pets receive multiple applications and we do our best to sort through to find the absolute best match possible. Location: |
