The Pretty in Pink fundraiser, a long-standing event supporting cancer patients in Westmoreland County, returns for its 15th year with a renewed sense of purpose and remembrance. While this marks the first year without founder Lois Denning, organizers and family members are determined to carry forward her mission.

Denning launched the event after receiving help herself during her cancer journey. Over the years, Pretty in Pink has raised more than $100,000 for the Karla J. Nease Foundation, which provides financial assistance to local patients undergoing treatment.

This year’s gathering at the Slovenian Hall in Yukon is filled with
both emotion and gratitude.
“She would be proud to see this continue,” said Mary Ann Baber, president of Westmoreland County SNPJ.

Denning’s daughters, Jackie and Rosie, are helping lead the effort, honoring their mother’s legacy of compassion and resilience.

Despite her passing from pancreatic cancer last year, Denning’s impact remains strong. Her family says she would want the focus to stay on hope, strength, and helping others in need.

The fundraiser takes place Sunday, July 26, at 2 p.m., with tickets available at the door.
