Westmoreland County commissioners on Thursday approved $1 million in state funding to support the Arnold Palmer Legacy Experience, a planned interactive attraction highlighting the life and impact of the legendary golfer.

The experience will be housed at Latrobe Country Club, where a newly constructed building will become part of a recreation of Palmer’s office. According to General Manager Paul Sherlock, additional features—including a tee program, meeting areas, an event center, and lodging accommodations—are also in development.

“There’s a lot happening here that will be great for tourism,” Sherlock said, describing the project as something “truly special.”

The funding comes through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program and was awarded to the Arnold and Winnie Palmer Foundation. The grant will be distributed over a three-year period to support the project’s completion.

Commissioner Sean Kertes noted that the funding is being routed through the county, while Commissioner Doug Chew explained that local government approval was required to finalize the grant.

According to a statement from state Rep. Leslie Rossi, she secured the $1 million allocation in November 2024 to assist with relocating and reconstructing Palmer’s office and chapel on the club’s grounds.
