Westmoreland County Hiring Students for Summer Park Jobs |
Seasonal positions offer hands-on experience, $12 hourly pay, and full-time summer work across county parks |
Westmoreland County is gearing up for a busy summer and is seeking up to 15 high school seniors and college students to join its parks department for seasonal work starting in May. Available 40-hour-a-week positions include environmental aides to assist with summer day camps and children’s programs, as well as program aides to support recreational activities. The county is also hiring an administrative assistant for its Public Works Department in Hempfield. That role involves helping with event planning, marketing, and logistics for park programs and community events. In addition, temporary maintenance jobs are open for students willing to get hands-on experience at several parks, including Twin Lakes Park (Hempfield and Latrobe), Mammoth Park (Mt. Pleasant), Cedar Creek Park (Rostraver), Northmoreland Park (Allegheny Township), and Swede Hill Park (Greensburg). Duties include mowing grass, painting, collecting trash, and setting up picnic pavilions. “These are jobs we need to fill, and it’s a big part of our summer program,” said Public Works Director Dante DeCario. Positions pay $12 per hour and run through the end of summer. Applicants must be 18 or older, hold a valid driver’s license, and pass a criminal background check. Job applications are available on the county’s official website. |
