Twenty Years of Togetherness: A Westmoreland County Treasure Turns 20

Westmoreland Sale for Kids celebrates two decades of helping local families.

Some things just get better with time — and Westmoreland Sale for Kids is living proof.

This spring, this beloved community institution is marking an extraordinary milestone: 20 years of bringing Westmoreland County families together to shop, save, and share. What started as a simple idea in April 2007 has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated family events, held twice a year at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds in Greensburg.

Twice a year, Buildings One and Two at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds are transformed into a 14,000-square-foot marketplace brimming with children’s clothing (newborn through size 12), toys, baby gear, nursery essentials, and so much more. Between 250 and 350 local families participate as consignors each season — neighbors helping neighbors in the truest sense.

“Our mission has always been to help families save on everyday needs while giving their unused items a second life,” say the organizers. “Reaching our 20th year is a testament to the incredible community of moms, dads, and grandparents who have supported us since our very first sale.”

In 2014, owner and organizer Lisa Enlow expanded the event even further with the launch of Teen and Adult Clothing and More — a separate weekend sale featuring gently used clothing from sizes 12/14 all the way up to Adult 3X. With on-site fitting rooms and items organized by gender and category, it offers a premium thrift experience for older shoppers, too.

And the community spirit doesn’t stop at the checkout table. At the close of every sale, unsold items are donated to local nonprofits — ensuring that gently used goods reach families who need them most. It’s generosity built right into the business model.

Twenty years. Thousands of families served. Countless items given a second life. That’s something worth celebrating — and worth showing up for.
