The Sparkle in the Mirror: Celebrating 20 Years of Dreams at Angela’s Angels

A Boutique Experience Built by Neighbors

There is a specific kind of magic that happens in a dressing room. It’s that breathless moment when a young woman zips up a gown, turns to the mirror, and sees a version of herself she didn’t know existed—confident, radiant, and celebrated.

For two decades, Angela’s Angels has been the architect of these moments for the families of Westmoreland County. Located at 600 Ligonier Street in Latrobe, this isn’t just a shop; it’s a place where financial barriers are dismantled with a smile and a "you look beautiful."

The Story of a Dress That Came Home

The heartbeat of this organization is found in the letters that arrive long after the corsages have faded. One such letter came from Merrissa, who first visited Angela back in 2012.

"Growing up in a single-parent home, a roof over our heads and food in our mouths always came first," Merrissa shared. For her, Angela’s Angels wasn't just about a free dress; it was about the dignity of being able to participate in a milestone without her family having to choose between a bill and a memory. Years later, having built a life as a mentor for young women herself, Merrissa did something extraordinary: she mailed her dress back to Latrobe. She wanted another girl in her hometown to feel the same "Cinderella magic" she felt fourteen years ago.

A Boutique Experience Built by Neighbors

When you walk into the boutique, you are greeted by rows of shimmering jewelry, curated shoe displays, and racks of gowns that rival any high-end department store. This professional, "boutique-style" atmosphere is intentional. Angela Rose O’Brien and her team of dedicated volunteers believe that every student—regardless of their situation—deserves to be pampered.

This mission is fueled entirely by you. Every dress on the rack, every pair of silver heels, and every sparkling clutch was donated by a neighbor who wanted to pay it forward.

How Your Family Can Help

As we head into the heart of the 2026 formal season, there are several ways your family can join the "Angels":

  • Clean Out the Closet: Do you have a gently-used prom or bridesmaid dress gathering dust? Bring it to the shop and let it dance again.

  • The "Plus" Factor: There is a high demand for gowns in sizes 16 to 30+. Helping a girl of every shape find her dream dress is a top priority.

  • A Family Outing: Bring your daughter or granddaughter to drop off a donation, teaching the next generation about the power of local compassion.

At Angela’s Angels, the door is always open to any student with a school ID. No judgment, no cost—just a community coming together to make sure every girl in Westmoreland County has her moment in the sun.
