College Sports Updates

Local colleges are deep into conference play, with several teams reaching the final stretch of their regular seasons.

Seton Hill University:
- Baseball: The No. 17 ranked Griffins split a doubleheader against California (PA) on Saturday. They won Game 1 (6-2) but lost Game 2 (6-4), snapping a 22-game conference winning streak.
- Softball: The team secured a dominant 15-6 win over Edinboro on Saturday after sweeping a twinbill against Gannon earlier in the week.
Saint Vincent College:
- Men's Lacrosse: Celebrated Senior Day on Saturday with an "offensive outburst" victory. This followed a massive 22-2 win over Washington & Jefferson earlier in the week.
- Softball: Split a doubleheader at Bethany on Saturday.
Pitt-Greensburg:
- Baseball: Suffered a tough 20-2 loss to Penn State Altoona on Wednesday but previously rallied for a 5-4 road victory against Bethany.
Penn State New Kensington:

Track, Field & Individual Honors

Scholar-Athletes: Nominees were recently announced for the 70th Annual Westmoreland County Scholar-Athlete banquet, featuring finalists from all 18 county high schools.
Athletes of the Week: Madison Altman (Hempfield) and Sean Cartwright (Franklin Regional) were named Westmoreland high school athletes of the week.
Standout Performances: Landyn Artman (Kiski Area) took 2nd in the Javelin (171-0) at a recent invitational, while Bryson Bankosh (Mt. Pleasant) placed in the Long Jump (21-4.50).
