Playground funding in Westmoreland County, PA supports community parks

Including park renovation and outdoor recreation grants for local improvements

Westmoreland County is witnessing a significant boost in playground funding, enhancing community parks through park renovation and outdoor recreation grants.

 

In Greensburg's Fifth Ward, Spring Avenue Park has been revitalized with new playground equipment, a basketball half-court, and improved walkways, thanks to over $570,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. ([westmorelandcountypa.gov]

 

Smithton Borough transformed a vacant lot into Play Smithton Park, featuring swings, a net climber, and an accessible whirl, utilizing nearly $210,000 in CDBG funding. ([westmorelandcountypa.gov]

Rostraver Township's Betty Ambler Park saw new playground equipment and picnic areas installed during its first phase of improvements, supported by $55,000 in CDBG funds. ([westmorelandcountypa.gov]

 

Avonmore Borough received $185,465 to install ADA-accessible play structures, swings, and safety surfaces, along with new walkways and amenities, enhancing local recreational opportunities. ([senatorpittman.com]

 

These investments underscore a commitment to improving outdoor spaces, ensuring residents have access to safe and modern recreational facilities.
