NEW LACKAWANNA COLLEGE CAMPUS OPENING IN GREENSBURG

Around 30 to 50 students will be accepted in the fall

The new Lackawanna College Greensburg Center is scheduled to open this fall in Westmoreland County, specifically in the building that formerly housed Stone Bridge Brewing Co. on East Pittsburgh Street.

The satellite campus will focus on skilled trade programs to meet the growing regional demand for vocational training.

Campus & Program Details:

  • Location: The center is located at the Greensburg Center off Wilson Avenue and East Pittsburgh Street.

  • Programs: Students can earn associate degrees in:
    • Electrical Technology
    • Welding and Fabrication Technology
  • Facility: The space covers approximately 6,000 square feet dedicated to classrooms and specialized laboratories.
  • Cohort Size: The college expects an initial fall class of 30 to 50 students, with additional enrollment opportunities starting in the spring.

Background and Timeline:

  • Expansion: This center is one of three new satellite locations (including Bethlehem and Chambersburg) approved by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education to expand the college's reach into southern and western Pennsylvania.
  • Community Impact: The opening fills a local void in trade education following the closure of Triangle Tech in downtown Greensburg roughly two years ago.
  • Partnerships: College officials have expressed plans to partner with Westmoreland County high schools to create educational pipelines for local students.
Prospective students can find more information or begin the enrollment process through the Lackawanna College Admissions Department.
