In 2012, a young woman named Merrissa walked out of Angela’s Angels with a dress and purse for her senior prom. Growing up in a single-parent home, her father worked hard to keep a roof overhead, but "extra things" like prom dresses were often out of reach. To Merrissa, being able to feel beautiful without the burden of cost was "truly the best gift".
Life wasn't easy; shortly after that prom, her family faced eviction and a sudden move. But the seed of compassion planted in Latrobe, grew.
Today, Merrissa lives in Georgia and works with the Girls of Excellence organization, mentoring underprivileged girls who are "a reflection of the little girl I was".
Recently, she mailed that same dress back to Angela, along with additional items to contribute to the next generation of young women in Westmoreland County.
This is the heart of Angela’s Angels. It’s more than a boutique filled with shimmering gowns and rows of silver heels; it’s a place where confidence is born.
Whether you are a student looking for that perfect dress or a neighbor looking to volunteer, you are part of a cycle of kindness that reaches across states and generations.
