Delmont Kids Dash for Eggs in Annual Easter Hunt at Newhouse Park

Warm weather, laughter, and a burst of color filled Newhouse Park in Delmont on Saturday as hundreds of children and their families turned out for the town’s annual Easter egg hunt.

The celebration began with Easter-themed crafts at 11:30 a.m., giving kids a chance to get creative before the main event kicked off at noon. Organized each year by the Delmont Recreation Committee, the free hunt offers a springtime highlight for children up to age 10.

Participants were divided into three age groups to keep the search fair—and energetic. The oldest group dashed down the hillside like sprinters, quickly scooping up the pastel-colored eggs scattered across the grass near the park’s playground, pavilion, and baseball fields. Within minutes, the fields were picked clean.

After the hunt, each young participant chose a prize from a table brimming with donated toys, including Hot Wheels cars, Barbie dolls, and other favorites from the Delmont Christmas Pilgrimage. Local volunteers helped make the event possible—a Girl Scout troop stuffed the eggs, and the Salvation Army provided refreshments for families to enjoy under the spring sky.
