It is an exciting time for our local economy! From fresh morning brews to authentic Italian dinners, Westmoreland County is buzzing with new spots to visit. Here is the latest on the small businesses that have recently opened their doors or are just about to! 7 Brew Coffee: A New Spark in LatrobeLatrobe just got a major caffeine boost! 7 Brew Coffee officially opened its doors at 1100 Mountain Laurel Plaza (the former GetGo lot) in mid-January 2026. This rapid-service drive-thru isn’t just about the speed; it’s about the energy. Residents are already raving about the "positivity" and the helpfulness of the team, with local fans highlighting the fun atmosphere and great drink suggestions. Whether you’re heading to class at Saint Vincent or commuting along Route 30, the "Brew Crew" is ready with over 20,000 unique drink combinations including coffees, teas, and smoothies. It’s a fast, friendly experience that’s quickly becoming a favorite morning ritual for our Unity Township neighbors.
Pizzaiolo Primo: Coming Soon to MurrysvilleGet those appetite ready, Murrysville! The beloved artisan pizza spot Pizzaiolo Primo is set to open its third regional location in early March 2026 at 4869 William Penn Highway. Taking over the space formerly occupied by Atria’s, this new addition brings authentic Italian flavors right to our backyard. Led by entrepreneur Ron Sofranko, the restaurant aims to fill the gap left by Atria's closure with a menu featuring Neapolitan-style pizzas, pastas, and traditional entrees like branzino and chicken parmigiana. Sofranko, who revived the original Market Square location in 2021, is known for his passion for bringing high-quality dining experiences to local communities. This new Murrysville site is the latest step in his mission to share the art of Italian cooking across the region. It’s the perfect spot for a family dinner or a cozy date night once those ovens start firing up next month!
New Life for Local Favorites: Henry’s Hoagies & Scotty G’sWe love seeing local legacies continue! This past month, two iconic eateries found new life under passionate local owners. In Greensburg, Michelle Maxson fulfilled her lifelong dream by taking over Henry’s Hoagies in late January. Michelle, a local native who grew up learning the ropes in area diners, is bringing back classic recipes like her "Lincoln Inn" coleslaw while adding fresh touches like Boar’s Head meats and homemade soups. Meanwhile, in Latrobe, Stephanie Nolan has officially taken the reins at Scotty G’s Pizzeria on Ligonier Street. After seven years of working there, Stephanie was honored when the original owner, Scott Goodlin, chose her to carry on the tradition for her three sons. While the famous pizza recipes remain the same, Stephanie is excited to breathe new life into the dining room with upcoming spaghetti and wing nights.
